The Bambi Molesters + The Penny Black Remedy
Teatar &TD, Zagreb (Croatia), 29/03/2011
Not even a month after I was shooting the concert in Zagreb which was filmed to be released as a live DVD, another Croatian band was doing the same thing. This time, The Bambi Molesters, a Croatian surf rock band, known worldwide!
Surf rock coming from a small industrial town of Sisak in some small country on the european east? O yes, and the quality of their music has been recognized all over the world, as they appeared on different compilations & collaborated with known musicians: Peter Buck (R.E.M.), Scott McCaughey (Minus Five, R.E.M. touring band), Terry Lee Hale and Eduardo "Speedo" Martinez (The Flaming Sideburns) and Chris Eckman (The Walkabouts). And it was exactly Chris Eckman, with whom Bambies made an album together as a band "The Strange", who joined them on stage for a few songs this night.
To see them doing what they like to do, and enjoying themselves so much while doing it, was just beautiful. And to give that energy to the audience so successfully, was just fabulous! And best of all, the guys are so cool and down the earth, that it's just amazing. All in all, great concert - The Bambi Molesters are the living proof that instrumental music can be so cool, sexy and exciting!
They were supported by the really cool international gang named The Penny Black Remedy, with whom they played few gigs last month on a small Croatian-Slovenian tour. Check out this video to find out more about their secret connection :)
