First concert of the "Jazz v Narodnem domu" (Jazz in Narodni dom) series in 2015, brought us a very interesting Austrian electro / post-rock trio Radian, whose latest album titled "Radian Verses Howe Gelb" is based on, like the title says, collaboration with legendary Howe Gelb, singer of alt-country cult band Giant Sand.
This was bands - consisting of Martin Brandlmayr (drums, electronics, editing and arrangements), John Norman (bass) and Martin Siewert (guitars, lapsteel, electronics) - second performance in Slovenia and I'm sure one they will never forget - namely, one of their cars had some problems and burned on the highway in Austria on the way to Slovenia!
Hopefully, warm welcome by the audience helped a little bit - couldn’t stay to hear more about that and the Howe Gelb collaboration, because this was a double bill night for me, I still had one more gig to shoot! :)
Photography wise, it was a bit of a challenge. The lights were perfect for the music Radian is performing but a bit tough to get expression on a musician's face when they were silhouette or backlighted most of the time. Though, I do think the photos show the atmosphere pretty well!
