"Plesni utripi" featured dance schools and groups from Maribor region and it was divided into two nights - some amazing performances there, I really enjoyed it photographing!

30. Odprta plesna scena (30th Open Dance Scene)

First night of 30th Open Dance Scene was reserved for "Plesni utripi mladih" (Youth Dance Beats) - presentation of dance miniatures of young dancers from various local dance schools and selection for Živa, the Festival of young dance creativity in Slovenia.

One week after the final dance performance of Plesna izba Maribor, drummers from different groups of different age and level took the venue outside of Karantena building and showed us their skills - great African rhythms made a hot summer temperature even hotter! :)

Although was the school year 2020/21 anything but normal due to COVID-19, with a big pause in classes and regular practices for young dancers, Plesna izba Maribor decided to produce its annual summer dance performance, with the situation getting a bit better and restrictions for groups of people gathering lifting here in Slovenia.

Past weekend I had a privilege to photograph contemporary dance performance choreographed by Beno Novak and performed by the very talented girls of Plesna izba Maribor’s Š.I.K. collective.

Last week I was commissioned to photograph the new dance performance by Dalanda Diallo of Plesna izba Maribor titled "Bazen" ("The Pool"), which was a real joy.

The girls from Djembabe are just in the process of finishing their second album, so this concert at Festival Etnika 2018 in Maribor was a great opportunity for the home audience to hear some new material as well as the old hits from their debut album.

It was a while since the last time I photographed Djembabe live, have to admit. Paradoxically, because my wife plays the violin in the band - that’s why I was even more happy to catch them opening Maribum Afriqui 2018 festival this month in Maribor! ;)

Few days after the dancers of Plesna izba Maribor have their annual summer dance production, the young and more experienced drummers of the same school show their skills!

Plesna izba Maribor, dance school and production company that celebrates 30 years of all year round dance classes, had their annual summer production that was, given the jubilee, quite special!

This past weekend I was very happy and privileged, to document 32nd Winter dance school (32. Zimska plesna šola) - my third in a roll - that was organised by JSKD and held in Plesna izba Maribor. Full of very talented young dancers and their great mentors, this workshop was again, just as last two years, a joy to photograph! :)

The exhibition features a selection of images created by photographers who have covered the festival Contemporary Dance Platform since its beginnings and it will be shown in few different venues during the Festival Performa & Platforma 2016.

My photography exhibition focused on drummers of Plesna Izba Maribor, 1-22 June 2016 in Maribor, Slovenia

I’m very happy to announce my upcoming exhibition called "Zvoki iz Izbe" (Sounds from Izba) which is entirely focused not on the dancers of this great dance school, but on their drummers!

Continuing our successful collaboration from the last year, I was hired again this year to document the international Winter Dance School that has been happening in Maribor for 31 years now!

Movie night in Kino Udarnik in Maribor included screening of two movies which show connections & collaborations between Slovenian artists from Maribor and their colleagues in Mali, Africa.

Brilliant evening in an intimate atmosphere of a recording studio, full of warm music & cool people that was just what we needed in the cold winter night!

Continuing our great collaboration with Maribor’s well know dance school & dance company Plesna Izba Maribor, I documented another annual winter show production of the most of their different classes - from small kids to jazz and modern/contemporary dancers!
