Lovely Quinces
Salon uporabnih umetnosti, Maribor (Slovenia), 19/05/2017
Last Friday it felt like the festival season already started in Maribor - there were 3 really cool concerts at 3 different venues in town and luckily, not at the same time! :)
The first one was of a young Croatian and very talented singer/songwriter Dunja Ercegović, known also as Lovely Quinces, that I was eager to see. Despite of her young age and just two released EPs, she made a lot of buzz on Croatian music scene and wider. Much wider, actually - she had many gigs across Europe, played 3 short US tours so far (including stops at SXSW - not many bands from this region can say that!) and supported bands and artists like Kurt Vile&The Violators, Tame Impala, Skunk Anansie, Morcheeba, Giant Sand and Anna Calvi.
I really love her music and the fact that one girl with a guitar can sound so powerful, just blows me away. The gig was - as expected - amazing, so be sure to check her out the next time when she comes to your town. Because she most probably will, and in few years, when she’s gonna be a big name on some summer UK festival, you’ll be able to say that you saw her in a club performing in an intimate atmosphere ;)
