Although few events have already taken place, the official opening of the 18^th edition of Festival Platforma was reserved for the Italian performance titled "Graces" ("Gracije"), choreographed by Silvia Gribaudi.

Maribor was once again alive with contemporary dance performances, as Festival Platforma took over various venues around the city for the 18^th year in a row!

"Plesni utripi" featured dance schools and groups from Maribor region and it was divided into two nights - some amazing performances there, I really enjoyed it photographing!

30. Odprta plesna scena (30th Open Dance Scene)

First night of 30th Open Dance Scene was reserved for "Plesni utripi mladih" (Youth Dance Beats) - presentation of dance miniatures of young dancers from various local dance schools and selection for Živa, the Festival of young dance creativity in Slovenia.

One week after the final dance performance of Plesna izba Maribor, drummers from different groups of different age and level took the venue outside of Karantena building and showed us their skills - great African rhythms made a hot summer temperature even hotter! :)

Although was the school year 2020/21 anything but normal due to COVID-19, with a big pause in classes and regular practices for young dancers, Plesna izba Maribor decided to produce its annual summer dance performance, with the situation getting a bit better and restrictions for groups of people gathering lifting here in Slovenia.

Past weekend I had a privilege to photograph contemporary dance performance choreographed by Beno Novak and performed by the very talented girls of Plesna izba Maribor’s Š.I.K. collective.

Last week I was commissioned to photograph the new dance performance by Dalanda Diallo of Plesna izba Maribor titled "Bazen" ("The Pool"), which was a real joy.

Plesna izba Maribor, dance school and production company that celebrates 30 years of all year round dance classes, had their annual summer production that was, given the jubilee, quite special!

Third and final part of the annual summer production of Plesna Izba Maribor  featuring their numerous and talented drummers, with a little help of some other musicians, including famous guitarist Igor Bezget and yet to be famous cello player Ariel Vei Atanasovski.

Festival Lent - group photo exhibition, opening next Thursday in Maribor

Photography exhibition opens on 4 June 2015 in Fotografski muzej Maribor, Slovenia

I am very happy to announce that few of my photographs will be exhibited in the upcoming group photography exhibition that will feature photographs of Festival Lent, from four of its, current and past, official photographers: Boštjan Lah, Dejan Bulut, Nebojša Tejić and yours truly.

Continuing our great collaboration with Maribor’s well know dance school & dance company Plesna Izba Maribor, I documented another annual winter show production of the most of their different classes - from small kids to jazz and modern/contemporary dancers!

The final gallery from this years Festival Lent contains some moments captured offstage, on stage (but not as performance), behind stage and on the streets of Maribor, during the festival.

Festival Lent also included some great stand-up comedy and few Slovenian comedy theatre plays...

16 days of Festival Lent in Maribor also included many sporting events - as one of the official festival photographers, I covered some of them, including Jet ski Alpe Adria Tour 2014 and Slovenia Slack line Open 2014 competitions, and here are few chosen photographs from them.

16 days of Festival Lent also included classical concerts in the Dvorana Union (Union Hall) in Maribor.

26th Folkart & 50 years of KUD Študent ceremonial Academy

This years 26th Folkart International CIOFF® Folklore Festival, which is a sub-festival of Festival Lent, included seven folklore dance companies from whole world, plus, Maribor's own KUD Študent (The Cultural Art Association Študent) celebrated 50 years of continuous operation with a ceremonial Academy.

Festival Lent 2014: 16 days of hard work and so much fun - the photo story continues, this time including regional and local stars Elemental, Goblini, Đorđe Balašević, Los Hermanos muy simpaticos (muy simpaticos!) and many, many more!

Shooting 16 days lasting festival (!!) as one of the official photographers can be really tough, but a great joy, too! Here is the first gallery of photos from this years festival, others are following!
